::: Carole Lombard :::

I found this set of high resolution photos of 30´s actress Carole Lombard and was instantly captivated. Need to discover her films now! Even though the photos below are quite noir-esque she mostly made comedies, among them the original Mr and Mrs Smith by Alfred Hitchcock that I´m planning to see tonight.

::: Star poufs :::

I wanted to make something pinwheel-shaped like the beautiful brooches in Dolce & Gabbana´s fall collection, and came up with these hair decorations. They are made with satin and velvet ribbon that have been placed in a star pattern and then been embroidered with abstract patterns in the centers. Poufs of tulle on the back. Great for the holiday season, so I think I will try a few other colours too.

::: Feather heads :::

I love feather fascinators and tried to give a try at making some myself. For the feather pads I used pieces of felt that I cut out in petal shapes and then glued the feathers onto them. It was quite time consuming and messy: it was hard to make the feathers stay beautiful and not get clogged in the glue (as you can see happened to the last headband), also it took a few layers to cover the felt base. However, I´m still quite happy how they turned out, especially the colour combinations of the brown one and the puffiness of the pink. As they are glued on headbands I can easily use them in my short hair and get lots of variation. The tutorial I was inspired by can be found here.

::: Brideshead Revisited :::

It´s a great book about love and class but the film version wasn´t as good. The scenery and 20´s to 30´s style was gorgeous, and the main actors were great. BUT the story was very simplified and the very central relationship between Sebastian and Charles was dealt with far to briefly. Oh well, I enjoyed it anyway, if mostly for aesthetic reasons. Ben Whishaw is such an elfin beauty and Emma Thompson and Hayley Atwell were so elegant throughout. Some screencaps:

After a request I sent some loose charms from my designs to Plezuro, so now you can make your very own necklace from your favourite motif!
